How to answer

  1. Use the 30 seconds for three words, not a script

Write the point, the example and the result as three words, then talk from them. Reading a script on camera sounds flat, and you run out of think time before you finish writing it.

  2. Answer in the first sentence, then prove it

Open with your answer, then give one example: the situation, what you did, the result with a number, and what you learned. That fits in about 90 seconds and leaves room before the 2-minute cut-off.

  3. For technicals, say the steps in order and stop

Walk through the steps in order, name your assumptions out loud, and stop when you are done. Silence while you calculate reads worse than saying "assuming a 25% tax rate" and moving on.

FAQ

What is the RBC HireVue format?

A typical HireVue is a one-way video interview: about 30 seconds to think and 90 to 120 seconds to answer each question, usually one take, usually 3 to 5 questions, with a deadline a few days after the invite. Not every RBC process includes a HireVue, and this is not an official RBC rule; your invitation and the HireVue screen show the exact settings.

Are these the real RBC HireVue questions?

No. They are question styles candidates commonly report, not leaked or verbatim questions. Questions marked "Commonly reported for RBC" carry that tag in our question bank; the ones marked "General style" are general interview styles, not specific to RBC.

How do I practice a question on the real timer?

Each question has a button that opens Superday Prep with that question on a 30-second think timer and a 2-minute answer timer. New accounts start with a 3-day free trial; a card is collected at checkout and you can cancel before the trial ends.

Is Superday Prep affiliated with RBC or HireVue?

No. Superday Prep is not affiliated with RBC or HireVue. Firm names are used only to describe the interview.
